The Internet of Everything envisions the confluence of People, Things, Data and Processes. By achieving a multi-dimensional inter-operability between humans, as well as with machines it is the convergence of technologies for Smart Environment and Integrated Eco-systems.
The Car, as autonomous Eco-system, appears to be a compelling platform to realize the concept of the Internet of Everything. Indeed, inside a vehicle, people, connected devices can interact seamlessly within their own ecosystem through exchange of data and inter-processes. They can, as well as communicate with other cars and extend it to the Cloud or any internet-connected application.
Like the Internet-of-Everything, the Internet-of-Cars is becoming a sophisticated environment in need of an organization to define its key standards and functionalities. It will eventually find its own equilibrium based on technologies that give it function, value, and practicality.
In this speech, Mr Edoardo Merli will discuss the key concepts and technology building blocks that are enabling today’s Internet of Car. These applications include positioning devices, processors, low-power connectivity for data transfer and sensors, as well as various analog and digital interfaces. He will review what ST can offer to system makers, car manufacturers, and other stakeholders within the ecosystem for a successful implementation of the Internet of Cars.
