Biography:  
Stephen joined as a managing director , Head of IBG1 Taiwan in March 2014. Stephen was a managing director, DBS’ Investment Banking Group in Singapore in June 2001. Prior to joining DBS, Stephen was the Head of Global Telecom, Media & Technology Group in Asia at JP Morgan Chase since 1998. He started his career with Chase in 1989 as a M&A generalist in New York before specialising in media and telecom sectors in New York and subsequently in Asia.

Since 1994, he has led over US$15 billion of bank or bond financing for SK Telecom, LG Telecom, Hanaro (Korea), MGTI and Indosat (Indonesia), TBC (Taiwan), H3G (Italy), Singtel, SingPost, Yellow Pages and SPH (Singapore), PCCW, CTI, Distacom, Wharf Cable and Cite, the publishing unit of Tom.com  (Hong Kong), China Mobile (China), Celcom, Maxis and Astro (Malaysia), PLDT, Bayantel and Globe Telecom (Philippines), AIS, TAC and ShinSat (Thailand), Bharti and Reliance Infocomm (India), C&W IDC (Japan), QTel (Qatar), MGTI, Excelcomindo and Equinix (Asia Pacific).  On the M&A side, Stephen has advised Bell Canada, Frontline Technologies (Singapore), CVC, JP Morgan Partners, Super TV (Taiwan), Home Cable (Philippines), Digi (Malaysia), POSCO (Korea) and Asia Pacific On Line (Taiwan).

Stephen also advised TRI (Malaysia) in the restructuring of its US$534 million Euro Convertible Bond in 2000.  Since 2003, he has completed multiple IPOs in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand including the HK$ 42 billion IPO of Hutchsion Port Holdings Trust, HK$9.3 billion IPO of HKT Trust, HK$1.3 billion IPO of Hongguo International Holdings Limited, S$788 million IPO of SingPost, US$534 million IPO of Astro and US$28 million IPO of CS LoxInfo.

In addition to his global coverage responsibility for the TMT Sector from 2001 to mid 2011, he was also Head of DBS Middle East in 2009 and Head of DBS Malaysia in 2010, before he became the CEO of DBS Asia Capital.

He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University, a M.S. from M.I.T. and an MBA from the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania.
