Biography:  

            Dr. Lin, a former ITRI Executive Vice President, served nearly 18 years in ITRI pioneering and promoting optoelectronic infrastructure, computer peripherals and MEMS technologies. He found and co-found Opto-Electronics & System Lab and Materials Research Lab during his service in ITRI. In 2001, after early retired from ITRI, Dr. Lin founded Asia Pacific Microsystems, Inc. (apm). apm, one of the largest MEMS companies in Taiwan providing competent MEMS foundry and state-of-the-art technology to fulfill the niche feature IDM and Fabrication.

Before the experience in ITRI, Dr. Lin started out with his teaching position in National Cheng-Kung University as a Visiting Associated professor in 1976 and in 1977 he started his tenure at Department of Electrical Engineering, National Tsing-Hua University where he worked for 10 years as associated professor, professor and head of the department.

Dr. Lin is the expert in the area of semiconductor materials, optoelectronics devices and as well in MEMS and Microsystems. He is the recipient of Best 10 Engineers of Taiwan 1991; Best project Award/MOEA 1992, TECO Technology Award, Chinese Optical Engineering Society Gold Metal Award and many other national awards for his contributions in science and technology development in Taiwan.

Throughout the years of 90s, Dr. Lin was elected as the presidents of many significant technical societies in the nation, such as Chinese Optical Engineering Society, Surface Mount Technology Association, Microsystems Technology Association, IMAPS Taiwan Chapter and Taiwan Biochip Association as well as senior member of IEEE, SPIE. He is the author of over 100 papers. He also had been the member of (National) Presidential Office Science & Technology Consulting Committee. Dr. Lin received his Bachelor and Master degrees in National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan and Ph.D. from Osaka University in Japan.
